Interior painting looks simple until you see it done badly. Straight lines where walls meet ceilings, no roller marks in raking light, edges that stay crisp against trim — those come from time and care, not a faster brush.
Most of what makes a good paint job happens before any color goes on. We assess what is already on the walls, fill and sand cracks, repair damage, and prime correctly for the surface. Older buildings in particular reward this: pre-war plaster, settled cracks and decades of previous coats all need reading before they are painted over.
We mask and cover thoroughly, keep the space tidy throughout, and handle building requirements and certificates of insurance where they are needed.
We also brush cabinets, doors, window frames, sills, moldings and built-ins — the fine, close-up work that is seen at arm’s length and touched every day. It lives harder than walls, so preparation matters most: surfaces are cleaned and degreased, gloss is sanded back so the new coat can key, and hardware is removed rather than cut around. Finished in a durable paint, or in hand-applied limewash where a softer look suits the room.
Sheen changes how a room reads as much as color does. Flat and matte absorb light and forgive imperfection, which suits ceilings and broad walls. Eggshell and satin wipe clean and take more wear, which suits hallways, kitchens and children’s rooms. We’ll talk through what suits each space and how it is used.
If you want more depth and movement than flat paint gives, hand-applied limewash may suit the room better — we’re glad to show both at sampling.
